Adoption agreement & clauses

A forever home is a beautiful responsibility.

By signing this document, the adopter declares knowledge of, accepts, and commits to complying with the following clauses:

Comprehensive care. I commit to providing the kitten with proper nutrition, fresh water, a clean and safe environment, preventive and emergency veterinary care, and the affection and companionship it needs.

Mandatory spaying/neutering. If the kitten is not spayed/neutered at the time of delivery, I commit to having the procedure done by the agreed date and providing proof to the rescuer.

Vaccination and deworming. I commit to keeping the vaccination and deworming schedule up to date as per veterinary recommendations.

Safe housing. I commit to keeping the kitten in a safe indoor environment, with nets or mesh on balconies, windows, and terraces.

No abandonment. Under no circumstances will I abandon the kitten on public roads, at shelters, or give it to third parties without prior authorization from the rescuer.

No abuse. Any form of physical or psychological abuse toward the animal is strictly prohibited.

No declawing. Surgical removal of the kitten’s claws is prohibited, as it constitutes an act of mutilation.

No breeding. The kitten shall not be used for breeding or commercial purposes.

Return policy. If for any reason I cannot continue caring for the kitten, I commit to contacting the rescuer first to coordinate its return or rehoming.

Post-adoption follow-up. I agree to receive follow-up visits, calls, or messages from the rescuer to verify the animal’s wellbeing.

Animal recovery. The rescuer reserves the right to recover the kitten if abuse, abandonment, neglect, failure to spay/neuter, or breach of any clause is confirmed.

Verification. The rescuer may conduct previously coordinated follow-up visits to verify the kitten’s condition.

Important notice

The adaptation period

Adopting a kitten is a commitment of 15 to 20 years. Adaptation is not always easy or quick. During the first weeks or months, it can be normal for a kitten to hide, eat irregularly, have litter-box accidents, hiss, meow, avoid petting, scratch objects, or experience an upset stomach.

Please don’t

Force interaction or pull the kitten from hiding.
Punish natural fear or stress responses.
Give up quickly or return them for temporary behaviour.

Please do

Prepare a small, safe room with food, water, and litter.
Speak softly and allow the kitten to approach at their own pace.
Be patient, introduce other pets gradually, and ask the rescuer or a vet for help.

The first days can be challenging, but with patience, the bond you build with a rescued kitten is profoundly rewarding.
